Photo-realistic Animation

At Design Paradigm, we use IPA software from Immersive Design to create interactive animations of product designs directly from 3D CAD solid models.

Immersive Design's IPA (Interactive Product Animator) is a 3D photo-realistic animation and visualisation communication tool. Using full motion animation, customers can be shown realistic models of products, which visually demonstrate intricate mechanics and subtle features. This allows product designs to be visualised before the physical prototype stage. The animations help communicate design intent, assembly/disassembly methods, repair instructions and service information to the shop floor, remote field locations and customers.

IPA is recognised as a standard among mechanical design engineers.

IPA is integrated with most 3D modellers including UGS Solid Edge. The animations can be produced directly from the CAD design, and can be viewed from any Windows-capable desktop, sent by e-mail or posted on web sites.

Some examples of our video animation clips can be seen here:

Sample videos are lower quality to allow them to be viewed on the web; actual animations are near-DVD quality. Samples are in Google Video format and can be played directly in most web browsers providing Adobe Flash Player is installed.

Clip 1

Assembly Sequence of a Butterfly Valve, used to illustrate the assembly sequence and orientation of parts. A video such as this can illustrate in 1 minute, a sequence that may be take several pages to document in the traditional manner such as a maintenance manual.

Clip 3

This clip is part of a series produced to aid training of sub-sea ROV operators. Each clip describes a particular operating sequence, and shows in exact detail (and with full visability) the steps required.

Clip 4

This second clip is also part of a series produced to aid training of sub-sea ROV operators. The clip shows how cut-away views can be used to illustrate parts of an operation that is not usually visible to the operator in the real world.
