Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is an effective numerical method used to model a wide range of physical phenomena. The geometric model is divided into a mesh of many elements, allowing numerical iteration to solve the physical equations. Typical applications include the following:
- Structural (e.g. stress, deformation)
- Thermal
- Dynamic (e.g. modal analysis, transient dynamic response)
- Electromagnetic
Continuous improvements in both software and hardware mean that FEA is now a powerful engineering tool, enabling complex engineering structures, for instance multi-part 3D assemblies, to be analysed quickly.
Design Paradigm's engineers have many years' experience of using COSMOS for product design and development. COSMOS is widely regarded as one of the worlds' leading software packages in the field of FEA.
In combination with our Engineering Design and CFD tools, we have effectively integrated FEA into the design process, enabling rapid optimisation before expensive hardware is made.
